According to the latest report of the Institute of Renewable Energy IEO, “The Photovoltaic Market in Poland 2020”, this market is the fastest growing of all renewable energy sectors in Poland. The total installed capacity in photovoltaic sources at the end of 2019 was almost 1,500 MW, and in May 2020 it exceeded 1,950 MW. Currently, the largest increase in new capacity is observed in the micro-installation segment, which means high activity of individual and business prosumers.

In 2019, Poland achieved an increase in new capacity of approximately 0.9 GW and, with a share of the capacity increase of 5.5%, was in the top five in the European Union. IEO estimates that at the end of 2020, the installed PV capacity in Poland may reach 2.5 GW. IEO forecasts also indicate that the turnover on the photovoltaic market will increase this year by as much as 25% compared to the previous year and will exceed PLN 5 billion.

This year’s investments will be focused on prosumers in the micro-installation sector. Then, in the years 2021-2022, along with the end of the deadline for the implementation of projects that won auctions in 2018-2019, most of the investments will be concentrated in the photovoltaic farm sector.

The observed increase in investments is also due to the availability of financing – “Czyste powietrze” program and “Moj Prad”. It is also possible to take advantage of other discounts available on the market, e.g. the Thermomodernization Relief.

The PolREFF program also provides information necessary to prepare for investments in photovoltaics. Tools such as a calculator or a Technology Advisor are available on the program’s website. The banks participating in the program provide loans for the missing part of the financing.
