5 STEPS TO MAKE YOUR HOUSE OR APARTMENT ENERGY EFFICIENT

Are you planning to modernise your house in order to reduce your costs of living? First, you need to be well prepared. Your investment will bring the best results when you follow these 5 preparatory steps. The steps have been defined by experts – PolREFF engineers experienced in the implementation of energy efficiency projects.

The first step is to define the current status of your house or apartment. Answer the following questions: When was my house built? What are the walls made of and how thick are they? Are the walls, floors and roof insulated? How big is the usable surface area of the house? Are the windows single or double glazed? What are they made of?

In the case of a comprehensive building modernisation it is recommended that a full energy audit is undertaken by a certified expert or an auditing company. The major advantage of an audit is that all problematic areas that need modernisation are identified at once. An audit will also determine the optimal solutions to improve energy efficiency of the building along with the renovation costs and expected future savings..

Once the audit is complete and all information is available you can move to steps 4 and 5. .

Once you have the information about the status of your house or apartment you can start searching for technical solutions that will bring optimal results.

The internet is a great source of knowledge and information provided by distributors and suppliers about commonly used energy efficient technologies.

If you would like to access information provided by independent experts use the PolREFF Guide.

Once you have chosen an energy efficient solution you can use the PolREFF Technology Selector. It is a search engine to find highly energy efficient materials and equipment approved by independent experts. Each product in the Technology Selector is guaranteed to have at least 20% lower energy consumption in comparison to reference products of the same type as defined by European and national norms.
The Technology Selector allows you to create a customised list of products for your modernisation project. It also provides detailed information about each of the chosen products: parameters, the producer and the model. Once you activate the Technology Selector you can also contact PolREFF experts via online chat. To use the TECHNOLOGY SELECTOR click on the link below.

Once your list of products is ready you can contact the suppliers and learn about the prices of the equipment and the installation costs. When you have all the information you need you can calculate the total cost of your modernisation project. If you don’t have sufficient funds to carry out the modernisation or renovation project or implement energy efficient solutions in your newly built house, you can apply for a loan at one of the PolREFF partner banks.
